Biography

Naveed Ahmed Khan has 15 years of experience of working in North America, Europe and Asia. His research has been published in more than 165 peer-reviewed publications, 7 books and 5 chapters. He has received numerous awards, both nationally and internationally, including the ‘Pakistan Academy of Sciences’ Gold Medal (2015), ‘Schwentker Research Award’ by Johns Hopkins University, USA, ‘Best Research Award by Medical Research Society, Royal College of Physicians, UK, ‘Best Young Research Scholar Award” by the Government of Pakistan (2013), Gold medal by Zoological Society in 2014, and in 2016 he received Silver Medal Awards by the International Invention & Innovation Exhibition, MOSTI. Currently he is working as Professor & Head of Biological Sciences Department at Sunway University.

Research Interest

He maintains a broad interest in all aspects of infectious diseases. Using genomics and proteomics tools, his work has been focused on pathogen virulence determinants and host factors that contribute to microbial infections, with an eye to identify potential targets for therapeutic interventions. In addition, his recent work has been focused on the identification of antimicrobials from species living in polluted environments. His work on “animals living in polluted environments could be rich stores of new antibiotics” gained worldwide media attention. Several documentaries were made and shown on leading news channels, websites and leading peer-reviewed journals.
